Fall Inspired Home Made Crafted Wreath

I’ve wanted to craft my own fall wreath, I haven’t done much crafting before or not since I was a kid so this was a fun thing to try. I add some tips at the end of what I learnt from a beginner crafter if you too are just starting out.

Reason I wanted to try this is I had seen amazing wreaths online but I wanted to learn how to make my own and this is super cheap to make! It’s easy enough you could make it with children too as a fun project to do together.

First I made the ring

Wrap the wreath to hide any green

If you can find a white wire or white wire wreath ring that is ready made that could work better.

Create pom poms

Make them then align then around the ring to work out what pattern and how many you need.

Attach poms poms to the ring

I used a small hot gun. I used an old pizza box underneath so the hot glue didn’t drip on my table.

I used the glue gun to secure the end of the wool that I wrapped around the ring and the pom poms.

Something I noticed first time using this hot gun was that is would keep dripping even without pulling the handle. Also I found I just had enough glue sticks, which was 2 small ones. So worth getting enough that you have enough glue.

I added star anise and bundle of cinnamon wrapped using twine, to my wreath but you can add extras of what you want to use, dried orange slices could work well to, or mini pumpkins.

The final wreath

I attached some wool to the top but you don’t have to do that as it could hang from the ring itself.

Tips for next wreath

1. Buying a pre-made wreath wire would be better as it was quite hard to attach the pom poms to the thin frame. A wreath wire will have many layers of wire which makes it more surface to attach the pom poms too.
2. A pom pom making might be easier than using my hand.
3. Trim the pom poms more so they look tidier.
4. The star anise I bought seemed quite small, they get a bit lost, I would try to see if I could find ones that are bigger.
5. Buy plenty of glue sticks as I was surprised how much I went though.
